Gracie Humaita Botany offers BJJ classes for children aged between 3 and 5 years old. These 30-minute classes are specifically designed for pre-schoolers.

At our academy, children aged 3 to 5 years old do not engage in sparring during class. Instead, the focus is on developing coordination, discipline, and confidence. We offer a variety of fun activities and games that introduce basic BJJ techniques and movements.

Children at this young age are still developing their motor skills and coordination, and their attention span is usually limited. Therefore, our BJJ classes are tailored to their age and developmental level. The classes may involve simple BJJ drills and exercises that teach basic BJJ techniques. Kids learn to break-fall, forward roll, escape from holds and basic BJJ positions. The training may also include games and activities that promote physical fitness and coordination, such as obstacle courses and relay races.

Discipline and confidence are also important aspects of BJJ training for young children. Our classes include exercises that teach children how to follow instructions, show respect for others, and develop a positive attitude towards challenges.

Is BJJ an effective self-defence martial art for kids aged between 3 and 5?

BJJ might be beneficial for a youngster to protect itself. However, it is important to note that the training and approach for this age group will be different compared to older children or adults.

BJJ for 3 to 5 your olds typically focuses on developing physical coordination, motor skills, and self-confidence. We do not teach them how to fight! The primary goal is to create a positive and enjoyable experience that will encourage your child to continue training in the future.

All Gracie Botany instructors are qualified and have experience teaching young children. The instructors have a solid understanding of child development and age-appropriate training methods.

Overall, BJJ can be a great martial art for children aged 3 to 5 as it teaches important life skills such as discipline, focus, and perseverance. BJJ also promotes physical fitness and coordination.
